Vivienne was definitely excited to go to basketball class tonight. She did some warm up stretches at home and then some sprints in the house. She was ready to go! It's 9 degrees outside, so we managed to get her to put sweat pants on over her shorts before we went out the door. I was skeptical that she'd comply. (they're Will's old Gap sweats, Navy blue with holes in the knees!)
Anyway, as soon as we got to the gym she was running all over the place and dribbling up a storm. Her dribbling skills have improved from the first class. (not that she was dribbling poorly then, because she was doing well from the start, but tonight she was a real globe trotter)
They did a game tonight where they set up cones in a circle and you had keep inside the circle and dribble the ball. One kid was the "monster" and he/she would go into the circle and try and steal the ball from you. If the monster got your ball you were out. Vivienne did pretty well dribbling nonstop, while many of the kids were just running --- holding their ball to protect it. Not dribbling. She did not put up too much of a fight when a kid (monster) took her ball. I was hoping she'd hang on to it and make a move. (We will work on that for next week for sure!) And then when she was the monster she wasn't super aggressive stealing the balls... she did some sort of dance moves out there chasing the kids. But again, we can work on that for next week. She just needed clearer instructions and more coaxing to STEAL THE BALL.
Bottom line: she definitely enjoyed herself. When the kids took water breaks, she'd run over to Tim and me and get a quick drink from our water bottle, but she was quick to get right back on the court and not dilly dally. She was all business, as Tim said.
